The fruit of silence is prayer.

The fruit of prayer is faith.

The fruit of faith is love.

The fruit of love is service.

The fruit of service is peace.

Christianity & Yoga

I was deeply rooted in the Bible and in the Christian faith long before learning to practice Yoga. What became clear almost immediately, however, was that yoga brought a whole new dimension to my prayer life and provided a means to bring my body more fully into my faith practice.

NEW: I will soon be offering one or two day workshops on the topic of 1) Yoga & Sabbath Rest and 2) an introduction to yoga for churches or anyone interested in yoga for those who come from a Christian background.

I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry. Book of Isaiah, Chapter 58

Father Thomas Ryan writes in his book Prayer of Heart & Body, "All flesh is holy and the ground of all human endeavors is sacred. It is in these bodies that we work out our salvation. This corporeal nature is the place that God chose to call 'home'." Gandhi said, "The body is the only means by which the soul manifests itself."

"...yoga is a universal tradition. In Islam yoga comes as Sufism. In Judaism it comes as Kabbalah. In Christianity the desert fathers practiced yoga. You don't have to change your religion to do this. Whatever your religion is, yoga will help you."
