Jenny is a certified yoga teacher, trained at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health located in Lenox, MA. She has been teaching small group and private classes at her home studio since 2003 and is currently offering a number of restorative and gentle yoga classes. After 25 years as an international development policy advisor in Europe, Latin America and Washington, D.C., Jenny returned to her roots in Western Massachusetts. “Yoga became an absolutely necessity for me while I was working in the pressured environment of Washington where my work was defined by headlines and international crises. Years at a desk job had resulted in numerous aches and pains, joint problems, and general stress. Yoga brought me back into my body and deepened my focus at the same time. I found that I had new energy and peace of mind that was all the motivation I needed to continue a daily exercise routine. I also found that I wanted to share what I was learning in my own practice with family, friends and fellow gardening enthusiasts. Flexibility, weight loss and strengthening are natural consequences of yoga but, personally, I am just as excited about the many spiritual and emotional benefits.” Immediately after finishing yoga teacher training, she began a year long program to become a Master Gardener. The two interests have come together in her own workshop program entitled Yoga for Gardeners: Working the Soul to debut at the Franklin County Gardening Symposium of the Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association on March 11, 2006. "Not only is yoga important to prevent injuries, but most of our daily activities have the potential to become meditations if practiced with mindfulness. Avid gardeners already understand that working the soil, planting, and breathing in the beauty and aliveness of the earth is an opportunity to find meaning and joy in life. Yoga for Gardeners incorporates advice on how to protect yourself from overdoing while enhancing enjoyment and gardening skills through the practice of yoga." ![]()
